The main topics to be discussed at this session will be merger control and cartels. The panelists will discuss how to effectively address issues such as public interests in competition policy, the role of a local competition authority in the face of a world-wide proliferation of merger control laws, and how local authorities can effectively carry out their tasks while minimizing the administrative burden on the merging parties. This session will also show how to avoid a collision course with competition law when pursuing legitimate cooperation, how to introduce and enforce a culture of compliance and what can be done when a company discovers it did not comply with competition rules.
